Although it was originally announced that the Minions – those adorable little yellow guys from the Despicable Me movies – would be starring in their own movie in December of this year (2014), now Universal Pictures has pushed The Minions Movie back to July 10, 2015.

According to Cinemablend, it is expected that the movie will focus on the minions’ backstory. The movie will be set in the 1960s (before the minions teamed up with Steve Carell’s Gru). The story is expected to follow three of the little yellow guys as they work for a supervillain named Scarlet Overkill, voiced by fan-favorite Sandra Bullock and her husband Herb Overkill, voiced by Jon Hamm.

The Minions Movie will face strong animated competition when it finally debuts, including “SpongeBob SquarePants 2,” “The Penguins of Madagascar,” “B.O.O.: Bureau of Otherworldly Operations,” “Inside Out,” “Hotel Transylvania 2,” “Kung Fu Panda 3″ and “The Good Dinosaur.” That’s assuming, of course, that there are no other schedule changes between now and then.

I guess we have to wait, but I’m waiting very impatiently.
